The St. Bernard Fire Department is staffed full time with firefighter/paramedics and firefighter/EMT’s to serve our community. In addition to fire and EMS response, our members are also trained in a number of technical rescues including rope, trench, and confined space. We are also trained to the Hazardous Materials Technician level in order to safely mitigate a variety of emergencies that may face our community.
Our employees are represented by the IAFF Local 450. They are divided into 3 units that work a 24-48 schedule. Each shift is composed of a Captain, Lieutenant, Engineer, and 3-4 Firefighters.
Members of the St. Bernard Fire Department also participate on their own time in larger regional emergency operations groups such as Hamilton County USAR (Urban Search and Rescue).
